A concert program celebrating the 101st birthday of Composer/Conductor Leonard Bernstein. In a deeply intimate and evocative evening, author Jamie Bernstein, the eldest daughter of revered composer-conductor Leonard Bernstein offers a rare look at her father on the centennial of his birth. Musical works by Bernstein and Aaron Copland are featured in the performance, including [to be determined] Music is performed by Nashville chamber ensembles Alias, Chatterbird and INTERSECTION.

Jamie Bernstein, the daughter of Leonard Bernstein, is a writer, broadcaster, filmmaker, and concert narrator. She travels extensively to speak about music and her father. Her documentary Crescendo: the Power of Music has won numerous prizes and is now viewable on Netflix. Her memoir, Famous Father Girl, was published by HarperCollins in June 2018. Grammy nominated Alias Chamber Ensemble’s wide-ranging repertoire brings Nashville audiences a mix of chamber music that cannot be heard anywhere else. Artistic Director Sari De Leon-Reist can be heard on the recordings of Lady Antebellum, Kings of Leon, Faith Hill, Ben Folds, Train, Carrie Underwood, and countless others. The delightful alt-classical group Chatterbird has all but redefined Nashville’s classical landscape. With Artistic Director Celine Thackston, it performs uniquely orchestrated chamber music in an effort to develop new audiences, share the work of up-and-coming composers, and support the local arts scene. INTERSECTION, a contemporary music ensemble dedicated to challenging the traditional ways that audiences interact with music in the concert experience and to expand the musical language of Nashville. Artistic Director and founder, Kelly Corcoran was named “Best Classical Conductor” in 2015 by the Nashville Scene. She conducted the Nashville Symphony for nine seasons, both as Associate Conductor and Director of the Symphony Chorus.
